How To Get a Free Valentine Meal

Ben was given a gift card to Macaroni Grill for Christmas. We decided to use it today, Valentine's Day, for lunch while my parents took the kids to a special V-Day lunch. We both order and the meal comes. Mine is really great, just what I ordered...and since I have had it before, tasted just as I knew it should.

Ben, on the other hand, orders a meal that sounds really wonderful on the menu. It arrives, and it looks really wonderful. He takes a bite and casually mentions that it is quite a bit more spicy than he was anticipating. He takes another bite and says that it really is hot. (he loves hot things). He gives me a bite, and it is hot enough that I decline further bites.

He mentions it to the waitress and she takes the plate and begins a discussion with the manager. The manager comes over and asks for a description of the problem. She then takes the plate to the kitchen, saying they will fix the problem. A few minutes later, she returns and says that someone in the kitchen had refilled the paprika container with cayenne pepper! What was supposed to be a "zesty" dish with a pretty layer of paprika on top became like Mt. Vesuvius with a strong layer of cayenne pepper!

We ended up getting the entire meal, both of ours!, for free! Now we can still go back and use the gift card another time!

We love to eat at the Macaroni Grill! We have had some problems with their steaks before and same situation received a free meal. What is funny about your post is that we ate there last night for V-day and we also used a gift card from Christmas. We got dessert and our meals without having to pay for anything! That is our favorite place to eat, we just don't order the steaks!

That's pretty funny! Ben's poor little taste buds, all sizzled off. I bet the manager was giving a lot of free meals that night.

this is so funny! but good thing they figured out their mistake and gave you both a meal for free! what a terrible mistake to replace cayenne pepper instead of paprika, what a huge difference :)

Daniel probably would have loved it and eaten every bite. I swear that mine would eat fire if he could. Yay for a free meal - what a good valentines present.
